Higher Education Funding Council of England (HEFCE) report:

"Through the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) HEFCE supports HEIs in developing and undertaking a broad range of knowledge transfer activities which result in economic and social benefit to the UK. HEIF enables engagement with a wide range of business, public sector bodies and third sector partners. This includes support for the infrastructure for, and capacity-building in, enterprise education and projects. The recent and timely networking day held by CUTEC was an important event from Cambridge addressing these policy areas..."

Finding the right core team is the most important aspect to consider when starting a business. During the CUTEC networking event on 7th March, students were given the chance to meet:

  • potential team members for their business idea
  • experienced entrepreneurs willing to share their experience
  • people with brilliant ideas they could partner with

The event has kicked off with biotechnology serial entrepreneur and business angel Dr. Andy Richards, giving insight into effective teamwork and how to make the most of a networking opportunity, before the leaders of each participating club introduced their organizations and members. Following a facilitated networking session between students, the big entrepreneurs had made their guest star appearance!

Based on the impact this event is having on the university level, we have also been privileged to accept a visit from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and get coverage from various public media.
